Féile an Phobail 35 at Glór na Móna
Huge Comhghairdeas to the Féile team who organised the biggest and best Féile as we celebrate 35 years
We showed TG4’s documentary Stailc 1913 which looks at the Great Lockout in Dublin 110 years ago and the workers’ struggle under the leadership of Larkin and Connolly and the other great trade union leaders against the ruling class, particularly William Martin Murphy.
Up to 20 people attended the event in Gael-Ionad Mhic Goill and our good comrade Dr Fearghal Mac Bhloscaidh gave a great introduction to the film. Watch the inspiring speech here:
On top of that great event, we had Professor Michael Cronin speak with us on his book ‘The Irish Language and Ecology’ in Gael-Ionad Mhic Goill who discussed the connection between both these vital issues. We had a wonderful conversation around climate change, capitalism and colonialism – and the increasing need for decolonisation and an alternative system. The revival of the Irish language can help save the planet!
