We will have a lunch time talk and discussion with Joe Austin, an emotive and personal talk looking at the events of Gibraltar and the repatriation of volunteers, Mairead Farrell, Sean Savage & Dan McCann thirty years on along with the subsequent events in the following days the lasting impacts of that period within West Belfast and further afield.
Joe Austin
Currently chair of the National Graves Association (NGA), a group that looks after the graves of republican dead from 1798 to the recent conflict. Joe has worked actively in the community for many years to resolve constituency issues in his many roles within Sinn Féin including being a Belfast City Councillor and constituency manager for north Belfast. Joe currently works as the heritage coordinator for Fáilte Feirste Thiar looking at the decade of centenaries. This work involves organising discussions, debates, plays, art and publications
